Tampieri’s oil processing venture started in 1928 when a machine on display at the Padova trade fair intrigued Alfredo Tampieri. Once back in his small oil mill in Faenza, Alfredo realized the potential of that machinery which extracted oil from crushed grape seeds. That business insight would change his life and the life of his family.
A few months later Alfredo invested in that idea and with a business partner purchased the plant where he was working. Forty years later his three sons, Federico, Adriano and Giovanni, decided to take over the shares of the father's partner and gave new momentum to the activities of the oil mill which would then be completely in the hands of the family.
The 70's were crucial for the company. That is when the Tampieri brothers started to diversify their production by investing in new systems capable of processing different types of seeds. In 1972 marc began to be processed in addition to grape seeds. In the following years the company experienced steady growth, so much so that in 1979 it became a limited company.
In 1983 further expansion was undertaken by starting the production of sunflower oil too. Sadly, in 1991 production was temporarily halted following a severe fire. The Tampieris overcame adversity with absolute resolve and after a few months were already back on track.
The oil mill restarted production in no time and the brothers decided to invest in new systems capable of refining oils for food use.
The gamble paid off. Fast-forward to today, when every year Tampieri vegetable oil can process 400,000 tons of seeds and churn out over 250,000,000 litres of refined oil.
Tampieri vegetable oil is:
the Italian leader in the processing of sunflower, with 250,000 tons/year of crushed seeds and a production of 250,000 tons/year of refined oil, which amounts to over 35% of the entire national production
the European leader in the processing of corn germs, with 120,000 tons/year of crushed germs and a production of 40,000 tons/year of oil
the world leader in the processing of grape seed, with 70,000 tons/year of crushed seeds and a production of 10,000 tons/year of oil
